You dont say what printer you’re looking for. Also, since March 2007 when the printer companies won the right to make their printers reject compatibles, a lot of the cheap cartridges stopped working. So what you really want are affordable cartridges with a guarantee. For Epson I go to http://ccs-digital.com They have cartridges for under $3 which hold 66% more ink and are guaranteed to work. I've been using them for years.

I've only seen ink cartridges avaialble via auction on ebay, and honestly I wouldn't trust that. Who knows how old the cartridges are? If you are looking to cut your printer costs I'd suggest compatible or remanufactured cartridges, which are avaialble at hundreds of on the web sites. I always get mine at http://www.castleink.com but also like Carrot Ink a lot.
