I just paid over $45 for three new cartridges. The fourth indicated it was more than half full. Two minutes later it says it's empty….and REFUSES to print. This is a deceptive business practice EPSON built into the cartridge chip to FALSELY indicate a spent ink so as to FORCE the consumer to purchase more and more outrageously overpriced ink.The CEO and upper management should be held responsible. How can the consumer fight this and protect others?
Answer:
You are about 4 years too late. Epson was sued for this, they did settle however maintained the residual ink was a design feature.
Just don't purchase epson products.

I’ve found when the first 'warning' shows up saying you need to purchase another cartridge, there is actually a LOT of ink left in it. Just keep printing with it until your paper shows nothing on it. Have probably saved as much as I’ve spent on new ones!!! Report Abuse
Answer:
For all you people saying that there is ink left, there is ALWAYS meant to be in there, for a reason.
Inkjets work by using microscopic heaters to warm the ink causing it to expand and be ejected from the nozzles, run them dry, they can overheat = dead printer ! Report Abuse

As bad as they are, Epson is actually one of the superior ones. For one thing, their cartridges give a tiny more ink than some of the others. I’ve seen cartridges with as tiny as 4 ml. Epson holds 12. Still not great. For another, they’ve tried to standardize their cartridges so most printers use either the 3 colors and black (T069) or the 5 color and black (T078). Others use different cartridges for every printer.
And Epsons warranty beats everyone. Express replacement for a full year via fedex and they'll pick up the old one at their expense. That's called standing behind your product.
But I get cartridges from http://ccs-digital.com for under $3 which hold 66% more ink than epson. They also automatically reset when inserted, so when they state empty, I put them back in and print another dozen pages before they really run out.

Have you actually tried contacting Epson support to see if they have the ability to offer a replacement cartridge in place of the defective one ?
EVERY maker of products occasionally has something gets through the quality controls with a defect. This does NOT make a company a bad company. You could go out and buy a new rolls royce and find it fails to begin a month later, that doesn't make Rolls Royce a bad company. How they DEAL with the issue once made oaware of it it more important,
