I’ve a Lexmark X5470 printer which takes lexmark 32 or 34 black and 33 or 35 color cartridges (the higher numbers are the high yield cartridges for the printer), and I know from experience that refilling the ink cartridges results in the printer scolding you for using non-OEM ink. This was too annoying to try again.
So what happens if you buy one of the ink cartridges that are supposed to be compatible with Lexmark printers? Does the printer think that it's the same as a lexmark brand cartridge and function without scolding, or do you spend nearly as much money and *still* have to deal with its complaints that the ink isn't genuine?
Answer:
You’ll have same problem. Lexmark printers will not recognise anything other than OEMs. The older Lexmark you could refill and just press ok when it stated black ink is low. Now the newer ones are nobbled to make sure they make it if not impossible for you to print without genuines, so difficult you will give in and buy new.
Answer:
Usually professionally remanufactured cartridges can overcome many of the issues that home refillers face. I'd suggest giving an on the internet retailer like Castle Ink a try: http://www.castleink.com/_Lexmark.html
I've also used Carrot Ink and been very happy with the performance.
