My papers already show that it is out of ink. Usually when I buy a new cartridge it lasts a couple months at the least, so is something wrong with my printer? Because I know I didn't print out enough papers to use up ALL my colored and black/white ink.

In case you havent noticed, in addition to raising the price tremendously, printer companies have also cut down on the amount of ink. I know Epson have gradually gone down from about 22ml to 12. Do you realize that printer ink is over $5,000 a gallon? Figure it out - a half ounce of ink in a cartridge is $20. It takes over 250 cartridges to get a gallon. And you thought gas was high!
In addition to being cheaper, some of the compatibles give you more ink. I get Epson cartridges from http://ccs-digital.com for under $3 which give 20 ml. That's 66% more than Epson.
