I bought a Dell printer model A940 in 2003. I always purchased Dell ink cartridges and never had a problem. Once I tried a cheaper, remanufactured cartridge, I started getting the above-mentioned error. My printer will neither print documents nor copy from the platen glass.
Is it worthwhile to attempt fixing this printer, either by fixing it myself or bringing it to a repairman? Do you have a rough idea of what a competent repair service would charge? Should I just replace the printer?
