The ink in our Canon printer ran out, or was nearly gone annyway [it started to discolour pictures], so my dad changed it with a compatible ink cartridge, annyway, the gage/ink level thing that comes up when printing still said its nearly empty, but its a new, full ink cartrige, now the ink level has convinced itself that its absolutely empty- after printing a couple of pages out, eventhough theres still going to be a load of ink left in the cartrige, I dont know whats happening, does annyone have any ideas?
I cant print now because its telling me to change the cartrige, wich is already near full. =/
Answer:
You need to reset it as its a compatible cartridge. It happens with mine but then once restet it works normal just does not give an ink reading - which is never acurate anyway. Which model do you? This is so I have the ability to hopeful tell you how you do it with that model as they’re different. If there’s a little button on the control panel with red circle inside a red triangle that’ll be the reset button. Try putting the cartridge in then pressing this tiny button. Why they state empty is beacuse there are chips or pages printed counters in original cartridges and the printer does not recognise your new cartridge as it is not original so has no new information given it via the chip to say - ink back!
Compatables don't have these information chips so because of this you then have to over ride it by resetting in.
