I took my cartridge to walgreens and got it filled. after the lady filled it, she told me that it failed the color test, and it might not work, but to try it anyway.
i just brought it home and tried it, and the pop-up on my personal says that the ink is 100% full, but it's not working. she stated that i can take it back, and get it filled again for free, but is there anything that i can do at home to fix this?
i mean, i have a cartridge full of ink….i dont understand why it's not working.
it's in the right compartment, and this is the first time i've gotten it filled since i got it.
it's been sitting in my printer without ink for a long time…a year maybe? maybe a tiny less than that…but does that have anything to do with it?
Answer:
My Lexmark always needed print head cleaning.
Do this:
Take the cartridge out, and look on the bottom; in the center is area to be cleaned with the lines and small bumps).
Dip a Q-tip in alcohol (Listerine will work in a pinch) and rub the bottom head area (this will start to dissolve the old ink & can get messy, so be careful); repeat until the Q-tip comes out clean, then re-install into the print carriage.
Then run a 'print test page' to get any final tuning done & realign printing (from the Lexmark control panel).
Good luck.
Answer:
If its been sitting out for a year before filling then that could have dried it out as there’s a sponge inside. Sponge liquid and air don't really mix so this could be the problem. The advice is to always refill as soon as they become empty.
