i have a hp deskjet 5440
and i was wondering if i could place one black ink cartridge in eat slot, which i have two
would that do any damage to the printer?
and also would it matter to purchase hp 92 ink or can i purchase ink compatable to hp 92?
Answer:
The printer will not function. It will detect that the black ink cartridge that you installed is not the proper one, and will not accept it.
I'd definitely suggest compatible or remanufactured ink cartridges. That's all I’ve used now for the last 5 years or so (and for 4 different printers). There are many online retailers that specialized in these cartridges, including http://www.castleink.com/_Hewlett-Packar… which is Castle Ink's site.
Answer:
Most of the time, the cartridges are the same size, So, yes you can, but why would you? Often times, colors are right next to letters. So, if you put 2 black cartridges in, and the colors run into the text, then you would get one huge black blob, which would make reading impossible. To answer your question, yes you can. But it does not sound like a very smart thing to do.
Answer:
No, you can't put in two blacks. The color cartridge is physically different.
Compatible ink cartridges may work - the quality though runs from good to horrible on the many different brands of compatibles and refills.
