do i have to have a wireless printer to print wirelessly?
i use my laptop upstairs, but my main printer is in the basement where my desktop is, both are hardwired. i use a wireless router. is there any way i can print wirelessly with that printer at all?
i use windows 7 pro btw.

yes you can purchase a wireless print server i think they’re about $30-$40 you hook them up to your router and plug your printers usb plug into it and you might have to install something i am not sure then you look where you get your wireless from then you shuold see the name of the serve and you should be able to secre it and change the name.

a) If your printer supports wireless or is a networked based printer then yes. Most printers people purchase will not be.
b) if you router has a printer port then yes.
Otherwise, not unless you purchase a print server device (typically $100+) that’ll connect your printer to the network and manage its print queue
