I'm hoping to set up my USB printer to work with my wireless laptop. What sort of hardware/software would I need to make this happen?
Answer:
Better to have a wireless printer as the USB printer still needs to be connected to a PC. But once you install the drivers and software on the wireless PC you could use a wireless print server where you can connect up to 4 USB printers too. That way you can move around without having the USB printer dragging around with you. Or you could have another Computer connect to the USB but that would have to be on always otherwise you can't print.
There are several options to this. There are USB wireless hubs but they're tricky to work with. Some Wireless Print Servers need to work with certain USB printers. Just have to read the fine print on those Wireless Print Servers. They look like a Wireless Router. They do work just with the right model.
Answer:
You need a wireless print server. This will connect to your wireless access point. The USB printer will connect to the wireless print server. Plug the USB into the wireless print server and it acts the same as a built-in wireless print server only you have another piece of equipment (the wireless print server).
