Hi I'm a beginner to the Linux OS. I'm having trouble installing my Canon iP1800 printer. Help?
I'm on a(n) Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope) x86_64 with an AMD 64 Processor (not sure what other specs are necessary)
I've downloaded .rpm files and tried converting them to .deb with alien but it hasn't worked for me. I've also found some .deb files but when i try to install it with the package installer it says “Error: Wrong architecture 'i386'”

Answer:
Canon and Lexmark are notorious for their lack of support for Linux, but a search on openprinting.org shows some possibilities. If you download a deb, make sure it's for x86_64. You might also need to install the “lsb” package in Synaptic.
