Adobe Acrobat has taken over my printer!? How can I print only what I want on a website instead of the whole site?
Jan 29

I have an HP photosmart D5460 printer. It's less than a year old. I've reached my second kink with it where it appears “Online” in the control panel, but with “Error” under its name. It will print from the printer itself (plugging in an SD chip or the like) but not from the personal.

The first time, I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled an updated one from the HP site. It worked just as before… until now. I don't want to continue removing and reinstalling drivers, it takes too much time.

What else can I do?

P.S. I'd really like to AVOID calling HP unless I totally have to, I hate waiting on the phone just to be transferred to three different departments.

Answer:
First make sure all windows services needed by the printer are turned on or available, plus recheck your connections. It might well be that you’ll have to remove driver, printer and it's software. When you reinstall leave printer unhooked until software is installed and computer is restarted, ignoring plug-in request during install. Then plug in printer after restart and it should find it permanently. This works with HP printers but I don't know why.

Answer:
If you can’t find the right HP drivers manually I would advocate just getting a software program that can do it for you. There’s a program I use which will find drivers for just about all hardware devices. The best part is it takes a snapshot of your system specifications and matches the right driver to go with it. Perform a free driver scan at:

Also, you can get the driver from the official site:
