Hi. I bought a new Epson printer and connected it to one of the computers in the home, in our home we’ve 3 computers who are all on a wireless network. I would like to make it so you can print from any computer to that printer. I’ve went to the control panel and chosen to share printer, gave it a name and all, but when i try to find the printer on the other computer it states i spelled the name wrong, but i didn't. can someone please help me step by step how to set this up? thxx.
Answer:
1. Did you install the drivers on all 3 computers?
2. Are they all running the same version of Windows?
3. Did you try through Network neighborhood to go to the printer and right click on it and choose “connect”?
– Will watch for additional details and will update then.
**Update**
I'm sorry for the confusion.
Personally I have found that if you download and install the printer drivers on each computer you have less issues than using the run command to print. (especially if you are running different versions of Windows).
When you go into My Network Places and you click on View Workgroup Computers. It should show the personal in your home network. Double click on the one the printer is attached to and you should see the printer (with the name you gave it). Right mouse click on it and click Connect (sometimes this automatically install the drivers if you’re using the same version of windows).
Also if you go to Epson's support page it may have step by step instructions on how to set up your printer on a network–that is what I did when I was setting up a Vista Notebook.
Answer:
first, verify all of your personal are part of the same network. Right click the My personal icon and select properties. Choose the computer name tab and verify the workgroup names match. If not, change them to match, and restart the systems that needed the change.
Then on each personal go to control panel > Printers and Faxes. Click Add a Printer on the left column. click next, then ensure that “A network printer” radio button is checked. Click Next.
Instead of typing in a name, click browse for printer, go through the network finding the personal name that correlates with the system that is attached to the printer, and you should see it listed. If you do not see it listed, make sure you don't have a firewall blocking discovery of these types of devices.
*edit: With a shared printer, it usually prompts you to allow the driver to be installed on remote systems. This saves a lot of time, as each system will prompt you, asking if it should install the driver. Again, I believe it is because your personal are NOT on the same workgroup, so you cannot “see” the printer .
